In February of this year, I was interviewed by Natural Awakenings magazine about pet food. I was asked which foods I recommended, why I don’t recommend any commercial brand dog foods ever, my thoughts on feeding raw and why nutritional consults are so critically important… especially for medically fragile or compromised dogs.
Now, all of this didn’t make it into the originally published article, so I thought I’d hit the high-lights (maybe better called the low-lights) here.
- First things first, what you feed your dog is of critical importance to their overall health.
- Feeding your dog dry kibble day in and day out is like feeding your child breakfast cereal at every meal.
- Every pet’s nutritional needs are different — and change over time — so you should adjust his or her diet when different conditions arise.
- Because every pet is different and has different needs, consulting with a veterinarian trained in food therapy is a great idea.
